How you can influence your page rank
When you’re trying to influence your Google page rank, you have to know a few things. One is realizing that there isn’t one magical thing you can do that will get you there. It’s a combination of several factors working together that will help you achieve those results.
You content will play a very vital role in determining your PR value. A site that’s loaded with quality, unique, and valuable content will rank higher than one having little to offer. If you base the exact same number of links coming in to two separate sites, with one displaying great content and the other dull uninteresting content, the great content will rank higher. Freshly updated content draws the search engines, but even this content battle isn’t enough.
You have to factor in your links, both incoming and outbound. The more link you can get coming in to your site from pages that are ranked well, the better your ranking will be. But even linking isn’t enough all by itself. You add the link-building on top of the quality, fresh, and interesting content.
Now it’s time to learn that it’s only ‘quality’ links that will help you. Don’t link up to every offer you come across, because some links can actually be detrimental. It’s true you want to increase your quantity of links, but not at the expense of quality. It’s better to have fewer links of good quality, than thousands of bad quality links.
The main thing to remember is that you can’t throw all your weight and efforts into just one side of SEO. It takes all the ingredients mixed together to grab that top spot with the search engines. You need an attack that comes from all sides. Once you get used to doing it this way, not only will you see better results, but you’ll become better at it, and it will become second nature.
Remember too that one-way links carry more weight than reciprocal links if they come from locations relevant to your content. So actively seek out related blogs and forums, and be active in and around your niche. This will net you some good backlinks. Always follow the rules laid down within these blogs and forums, and add something of value in your comments, don’t just say something to be link fishing. Make them glad you stopped by, and you’ll end up getting more than just a link back to your site, you’ll get referred to other sites.
