Tips and Tricks for SEO Beginners
So you already have a website, or a new blog that you have started and want to improve traffic towards it. How to go about it? Should you hire a SEO firm to help you in driving targeted traffic? While this could be a viable option, for many people it is not because they always don’t have a budget for SEO. You don’t need to worry, yet. SEO is not rocket science, it is a simple art and science, and as someone once said “people have always pointlessly made things complex when it comes to SEO”. So, how do you go about all this?
Create good content – isn’t this obvious? You are wondering. Yes it is but there is a significant difference. You should create content with your target audience in mind. Some people would create content for the sake of increasing posts on their site and not with their target audience in mind. While you may succeed and get targeted traffic towards your blog or site with the articles, if they are not quality articles, you shouldn’t expect to get any returning visitors. They say content is king, do all you can to ensure it remains king and you will thank yourself for your efforts.
Speed up your website – yes, the speed at which your website loads does equally matter. If you visit a website that takes forever to load, will you wait for the pages to load or you will check another site? Luckily, Google has introduced a system that checks the loading speed of a website in its page ranking algorithms.
Keywords – be very wise in your selection of keywords and do not go overboard keyword stuffing your content. Ensure the keywords flow naturally and whatever keyword is mentioned in the Meta Data, it should be featured in the content as well, otherwise, the search engines will mark it as spam and will make no difference.
Update the content frequently – the rate and frequency at which you update your website does really matter a great deal. Ensure you post regularly and in a consistent manner. Don’t rush to upload articles, take your time. The reason why you need to update on a regular basis is to ensure that your returning visitors get something new and informative the next time they come by… don’t expect them to return the fourth time if the second and third time they stumble upon the same old articles they first saw. By being consistent in your posts, at least your target audience can have a schedule on when to check your site for fresh, updated, and informative content.
Improve the site navigation – the best course of action would be to keep the navigation of your website simple and easy so that people can easily access all sections of the site. You might want to try and create a sitemap which you can then submit to the search engines… this helps a great deal.
